Aalst

From the 13th June 1843 till the 1th September the Brother community existed amongst 800 prisoners in the military prison of Aalst.

Alsemberg

The Saint-Victor Institute in Alsemberg

The 27 th of August 1861, the Brothers opened “The Pensionnat Saint-Victor” in Alsemberg. That was the start of the recent “Saint-Victor Institute that nowadays includes three infant schools, three primary schools, a denominational education and a secondary school. Outside Alsemberg, there is also a Scheppers primary school in Beersel and in Dworp. In 2018 the Institute had 1857 pupils in general in the three settlements and it counts 182 staff members.

Anderlecht

 The Saint-Nicolas Institute in Anderlecht

On the 12th of April 1900 the Brothers started with the education of the orphans in Anderlecht in the orphanage that later became The Saint-Nicolas Institute with infant school and primary school as well as secondary education. In 2018  the Institute had 1197 pupils and 133 staff members.

Antwerpen

From the 27th of September 1887 till the 31st of December 1912 the Brothers formed a community in the Saint-Joseph school in Antwerp.  Four old pupils joined the congregation.
 
From March 1891 till the 31 of December 1912 the Brothers formed a community in the orphanage saint-Joseph in Antwerp. Four old pupils joined the congregation.

The Saint-Eligius Institute in Antwerp

In October 1894 the Brother started in the parish school as well as in the drawing-school Saint-Eligius (Antwerp-Belgium). That was the start of the present saint-Eligius Institute. The Higher education in Saint-Eligius was fused within the The Karel de Grote-Hogeschool with 10 Campus and the secondary school became the Scheppers Institute with three settlements: one in Antwerp and two in Deurne (near Antwerp), namely the Eligius Institute in Antwerp and the institute of the same name in Deurne – it used to be called The “Fredegandus Institute- and the Sancta-Maria Institute. In 2018 The Scheppers Institute has 1003 pupils in the three settlements.  And 148 staff members in the primary and the secondary Schools.

From the first of July 1965 till 1978 the Brothers worked in the boarding School for Bargemen’s children in Antwerp (Linkeroever).
 
From the first of September 1968 till 2002 the Brothers were active in the social works M.I.N. of people at need in Antwerp. This work receives ex-prisoners and indigent people and gives them a job in their own workshop.
 
From the first of December 1970 till... the Brothers formed a community in the social work M.I.N. of “People at Need” in Antwerp.

Beersel

In 1976 the free primary schools in Beersel and Dworp became Scheppers Schools. They’re still part of the Saint-Victor Institute.

Beauraing

From the 17th of September till August 1892 the Brothers were active in the Pensionnat Saint –Joseph in Beauraing.

Bosvoorde

From the first of August 1829 till..  the Brothers formed a community in the primary School saint-Joseph in Bosvoorde. In 1956 there were 5 Brothers in the community.

Braine l'Alleud

From the 25th of April 1879 till the 20th of August 1887, the Brothers were active in the primary school Saint-Jacques in Braine l’ Alleud. Two ancient pupils joined the congregation.

Deurne bij Antwerpen

In 1955 a technical school of economics was started in Deurne near Antwerp; nowadays it is still one of the three settlements of the Scheppers Institute Antwerp-Deurne.
 
The 26th of January 1956 the community of Saint-Eligius moved towards the community of Saint-Fredegandus in Deurne near Antwerp. In 1977 the community returned partly to Saint-Eligius and in 1997 the community of Saint-Fredegandus was closed.
 
In September 2004 the Saint-Eligius Institute in Antwerp took over the Sancta Maria School in Deurne from the sisters of Vorselaar. Nowadays Sancta Maria forms together with the Saint-Eligius School in Deurne and in Antwerp, the Scheppers Institute/ Antwerp-Deurne with three campus for secondary education.

Diest

From the 20th of September 1907 till 1922 the Brothers formed a community in the Saint-John Berchmans School in Diest. Three old pupils joined the congregation.

Dworp

In 1976 the free primary schools in Beersel and Dworp became Scheppers Schools. They’re still part of the Saint-Victor Institute.

Etterbeek

From the 1st of September 1892 till the 15th of June 1953 the Brothers formed community in the Saint-Gertrud School and the Saint-Stanislas Institute in Etterbeek. Five old pupils of Saint-Gertrud and one of Saint-Stanislas joined the congregation.

Gent

From the 13th July till the 20th 1872 the Brothers ’ community existed amongst 1000 prisoners in the military prison of Gent.

Hamont

From the first of October 1907 till the 19th of September 1922 the Brothers formed a community in the parish School Saint-Laurentius in Hamont. Three old pupils joined the congregation.

Heist-op-den-Berg

From the 20th of August 1920 till 1960 the Brothers formed a community in the parish school in Heist op den Berg. In 1956 there were 5 Brothers in the community. One old pupil joined the congregation.

Herentals

The Scheppers Institute in Herentals

The 5th of September 1908 the Brothers opened an orphanage in Herentals The Holy family Orphanage. This became the present Scheppers Institute with a technical school and horticultural school. In 2016 the Institute had 649 pupils and 117 staff members. The Institute has no longer a primary school.

Starrenhof in Kapellen: once a novitiate and the General Home

Kapellen

From the first of December 1930 till 1995 the Brothers formed a community in the General Home and in the home of rest Starrenhof in Kapellen. In 1956 there were 12 Brothers in the community. In 1968 the General Home was moved to Rome and Starrenhof became the Provincial Home till 1988. From 1932 till 1967 there was the Novitiate. Starrenhof was sold in 1995.
 
In 1968 the general committee of Kapellen was brought over to Villa Scheppers in Rome.

Kessel-Lo

From the 15th of September 1901 till the first of July 1970 the Brothers formed a community in the parish school Saint-Peter in Kessel-Lo (Blauwput). In 1956 there were 7 Brothers in the community. Three old pupils joined the congregation.

Mechelen

The Scheppersinstitute in Mechelen

On 25th Jan. 1839 V. Scheppers founded the Congregation of the Brothers of our Holy Mary of Mercy in Mechelen.
 
From the 1th April 1849 till the 30th September the Brothers took care of the senior people in Oliveten (Mechelen).
 
From the 1th April 1849 till the 18th September 1881 the Brothers opened a day school as well as a Sunday school in Oliveten (Mechelen)
 
The 5th of October 1851 the Brothers opened the “Motherhouse” “The Pensionnat of Saint-Vincent de Paul. From the 21th of November 1851 non-resident pupils were welcomed as well. That was the start of what we still know nowadays as the Scheppersinstitute in Mechelen.  Nowadays they also have an infant school, a primary school and a secondary school. In 2018 the institute has 1311 pupils and 144 staff members.

Niel bij Antwerpen

 The Saint Hubertusschool in Niel near Antwerp

From the 25th of September 1907 till 1998 the Brothers formed a community in the parish school Saint-Hubertus in Niel near Antwerp. In 1956 there were 5 Brothers in the community. 16 old pupils joined the congregation.
 
From 1931 till..   the friars were active in the primary school Saint- John- Berchmans in the parish Hellegat in Niel near Antwerp.

Putte bij Mechelen

From 1946 till 1965, the Brothers were present in the Primary School in Putte near Mechelen.

Saint-Hubert

From the 22th of April 1844 till the 6th October 1878 the Brothers of the community “Saint-Aloysius of Gonzaga” took care of the accompaniment and the education of young delinquents in Saint-Hubert.

Scherpenheuvel

From 1901 till the 9th of September 1922 the Brothers formed a community in the parish school Our Holy Mary in Scherpenheuvel.
 
From 1942 till 1957 the Brotherswere present again in the Parish School in Scherpenheuvel. In 1956 there were 4 Brothers in the community. Three old pupils joined the congregation.

Scheut

On the 12th of October 1887 the Brothers started with the preparation of the orphanage Saint-Peter in Scheut. It opened on the 28th of February 1889. Three old pupils joined the congregation.

Tervuren

From the 27th of September 1882 till the 23th of September 1887 the friars were active in the primary school Our Holy Mary to Angels in Tervuren. One old pupil joined the congregation.

Vilvoorde

From the 16th February 1841 till the 23th 1862 the Brother community existed amongst 800 prisoners in the prison of Vilvoorde.3

Waterloo

From 1916 till 1917 there were also Brothers in the primary school in Waterloo.

Wetteren

 The Scheppers Institute in Wetteren

On The 20th of September 1879, the Brothers opened the orphanage “Saint-Barbara” in Wetteren. This became the recent Scheppers Institute with infant School, primary school, technical school and horticultural school. In Wetteren ten Ede, there is a second settlement for primary school. In 2018, the Institute had 1571 pupils in both settlements and 242 staff members.
